Thomas Yang
Thomas has a Bachelor of Arts from Yale (1980), and Masters of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia (1984). Born and raised in Eagle Rock, he attended Rockdale Elementary and played tennis at Eagle Rock High. He and wife Janet returned to LA in 1988 for her clinical psychology practice and he for employment with renowned Canadian architect Arthur Erickson.
In the 1990's he worked for Duke Oakley at the UCLA Campus Architect's office. Here Thomas designed and planned major campus quadrangles and organized seismic reconstruction of historic structures including the iconic Royce Hall Auditorium. In the course of this 12 year episode, he and Janet began a family with Nathan and Clara who also attended Eagle Rock schools. Thomas ended his UCLA career planning the IM Pei designed UCLA hospital which led to two years as Corporate Architect for biotech giant AMGEN. In 2003 began his current career with old friend Sarah Jensen at Jensen + Partners in downtown Los Angeles.
Thomas maintains Thomas Yang - Architecture in parallel, having constructed two new homes, renovated or added to many others, and created innovative designs for homes around the region, as you can see in these pages. Enjoy!
